Cole Stangler is a French-American journalist based in Marseille covering politics and culture. Cole is a contributor to outlets like The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Guardian, Foreign Policy, The Nation, Jacobin, The Atlantic, Dissent, VICE, The New Republic, UnHerd and Air Mail. He teaches classes on Anglophone media at the American College of the Mediterranean in Aix-en-Provence.  A former business editor at France 24 English, he is frequently interviewed by outlets like Deutsche Welle, BBC, and Al Jazeera. Cole is a graduate of Georgetown’s School of Foreign Service and has a masters’ degree in contemporary social history from the University of Paris 1, Panthéon-Sorbonne. He is the author of La solidarité et ses limites : la CFDT et les travailleurs immigrés dans les années 68 (Ed. Arbre bleu, 2022), and Paris Is Not Dead, (USA: The New Press, UK: Saqi Books, 2023).
